Corporate philosophy and seven NMH monozukuri principles

A company is a living thing, and the key to its growth depends on the human resources of the organization. If we have as many people as possible who acknowledge their responsibilities, understand what they should do, and play their role well in the organization, corporate power is enhanced and the company becomes a place where employees can find self-fulfillment. Aiming to become such a company, we set our corporate philosophy and seven NMH monozukuri principles and encourage their practice in each workplace.

Facilitating communication among employees

We provide space to facilitate internal communication. By eliminating the president’s office at the headquarters factory and adding new conference rooms, we promote the creation of a work environment that provides more opportunities for internal communication. Furthermore, by connecting the headquarters factory (in Fukui Prefecture) and the sales headquarters (in Osaka) via a high definition video conference system, we are utilizing a communication environment free from distance limitations. These allow us to build a system in which relevant employees can gather and immediately respond to customers even when urgent inquiries come from customers.
Furthermore, we set a basic meeting rule that employees are responsible for considering the topic, thoroughly discussing it, and implementing the decisions to achieve meaningful discussions.

At Nippon Metal Hose, each of the divisions in charge of sales, design, production, and quality control values the seven NMH monozukuri principles, and always thinks about how they can satisfy customers through their jobs.

  • ・We have strong capabilities in the manual welding of thin plates. We produce a wide range of expansion joints including round type, square type, and oval type.

  • ・To succeed the current proprietary techniques to new generations, we conduct one-to-one technical training through on-the-job training.
  • ・Without being satisfied with the status quo, we take on challenges to devise new jigs and automate tools in our daily work to perform more highly skilled welding.

We always think about the best choices for current, welding rods, and working posture while welding in order to weld and ensure stable product quality. We also make improvements using jigs so that we can perform the best welding.

Know-how on forming bellows
  • ・To support a wide variety of diameters and shapes, we own various forming jigs.
  • ・Hydroforming is mainly employed for forming bellows. We respond to the needs of each customer using dies of different diameters and shapes.

  • ・By recording and saving forming conditions, we quickly respond to the requirements of new products.
  • ・We conduct one-to-one training through on-the-job training to succeed expertise in the forming process.

Passion of the personnel in charge of forming

Because we have to judge the availability of forming based on the current technological capabilities and equipment, we perform sample forming and record the data. By taking into consideration differences in forming conditions, we consult with relevant divisions to consider modifications or additions to the product dimensions or process. In addition, by forming products of various shapes, we improve the skills of individual employees.

Customer consultation
The customer was troubled by sand, wood chips, and other dust accumulated on the corrugated part of their existing bellows (made by another manufacturer), which hindered the operation of the bellows. We received an inquiry about possible solutions for the issue.
Our response
We proposed the replacement of the current basic duplex type expansion joint with an external pressure type expansion joint and removal of the wood chips and other dust accumulated on the inner side of the outer cylinder at regular intervals.

To make the best proposal on every occasion, we devote ourselves to further study and the application of knowledge and respond to even short delivery orders and recovery of sudden problems immediately and sincerely.

  • ・ We can design products of high technical difficulty such as a pressure balanced type.
  • ・ We have accumulated expertise that allows us to respond to customer consultations regarding product specifications from the early stage of the design process.

  • ・ We expect all design personnel to deal with unexpected problems and complaints immediately and appropriately. In the event of a problem, we share information throughout the whole process from the initial response to the final solution.

  • ・ With deep knowledge of the Electric Utility Industry Law, High Pressure Gas Safety Act, Fire Services Act, and other relevant laws, we can immediately check the items required at order placement.
To share individual knowledge
  • ・ Information collected by individual design personnel is collectively stored on the shared server in the Design Division, and its contents are disseminated through internal briefing sessions and circulation.

Techniques

Pursue techniques necessary for creating products with high added value

1Welding thin materials
We can perform butt welding and manual fillet welding of thin plates of less than 1 mm, which is generally considered difficult.
2Welding thin materials in on-site work
On-site welding of thin materials is even more difficult in some cases depending on the working posture while welding, workspace conditions, and the ambient environment. We have skilled technicians who can weld thin materials as long as they can see weld points and their welding torch reaches the points.
3Manufacturing square bellows
We can perform butt joint welding of thin plates in the longitudinal orientation after forming the corrugated part.
This welding method enables the manufacture of square expansion joints in small and large sizes.
4Hydroforming bellows
We can form bellows with consistent pitches and height of corrugated parts. By changing the shape of forming jigs, we can also form bellows in response to various requirements.
5Forming multi-layered bellows
We can form multilayered bellows for which multiple thin plates are overlaid to satisfy the requirements for durability and low reaction.
6Forming non-welded expansion joints
We can form non-welded expansion joints by folding back the bellows tip in the shape of a collar and attaching the bellows to the flange without welding.
7Forming fluororesin-coated bellows
We can form bellows for which fluororesin is coated on the inner surface by baking.

Inquiries
